Full-Day Kampong Kleang Floating Village Tour

ITINERARIES

Duration: Full Day (approx. 6-7 hours)

Best Time to Visit: August to February, when the water levels are high and villages are accessible by boat.

@ 8:00 AM- Hotel Pickup in Siem Reap: You guide and driver will pick you up at you hotel in Siem Reap. Enjoy a scenic drive through the countryside, passing rice paddies, farms, and small village along the way. 

@ 9:00 AM- Arrival at Kampong Kleang Village: Arrive at Kampong Kleang, a more remote and authentic stilted village on Tonle Sap Lake. Here, you'll get a chance to explore the village on foot, walking through narrow streets and meeting local residents who live in stilted houses that rise high above the ground. 

@ 10:00 AM- Guided Walk Through Kampong Kleang Village: Take a guided walk through a village to learn about daily life, local customs, and the unique stilted architecture. This walk provides an opportunity to observe traditional Cambodian lifestyle up close and interact with friendly locals. 

@ 10:30 AM- Boat Ride on the Tonle Sap Lake: Board a traditional wooden boat to cruies through Kampong Kleang's waterways, observe floating houses, schools, and pagodas. As you move closer to the Tonle Sap Lake, you'll see house that float on the lake itself, constantly shifting with the water's rise and fall. 

@ 11:30 AM- Open Lake Tour on Tonle Sap: Travel further out onto the Tonle Sap Lake, where you'll see expansive view of the lake, floating fishing villages, and boats at work. Learn about the importance of the lake's ecosystem, which sustains the livelihoods of fishing commmunities and plays a crucial role in Cambodia's food supply. 

@ 12:00 PM- Lunch at a Local Restaurant (Optional): Stop for lunch at a local floating restaurant or a small-run eatery in the village (depending on the tour). Enjoy traditional Cambodian Dishes while taking in scenic views of the lake. 

@ 1:00 PM- Explore the Flooded Forest (Seasonal): During the high-water season from August to February, you'll have the opportunity to take a small boat through the serene flooded forest. Drift among partially submerged trees, where the lush surroundings provide a peaceful, natural escape. 

@ 2:00 PM- Return Journey to Siem Reap: Board your boat back to the village pier and then start your journey back to Siem Reap, enyoying more of the countryside landscape along the way. 

@ 3:00 PM- Drop-Off at Hotel: Arrive back at your hotel in Siem Reap, marking the end of a culturally rich experience.
